PURIFILE INTEGRATED WITH NEXOR SENTINEL 3 MAILGUARD
February 2010
Nexor, the company that connects, transforms and protects sensitive information for defence, security and resilience programmes, announced today that it has successfully integrated ITT’s PuriFile® file inspection application into its mailguard, Nexor Sentinel Version 3.
Widely deployed in high assurance, cross domain environments, Nexor Sentinel connects and protects messaging domains by preventing data loss via email and protecting an organisation from downstream denial-of-service attacks. Sentinel 3 uses the SE Linux secure operating system to enforce network separation of the connected domains, while the mail guard application ensures only policy conformant messages can pass between these connected networks.
“We’ve chosen to integrate ITT’s PuriFile software as an additional filter component with Nexor Sentinel 3 in response to customer demand to deliver a deep document inspection capability for hidden data”, comments Colin Robbins, Chief Technology Officer at Nexor.
ITT’s PuriFile software is a file inspection application that performs deep analysis of various Microsoft Office file formats and .pdf files. The software detects and identifies hidden objects and metadata, which could accidentally or maliciously disclose sensitive information or confidential digital assets that would otherwise go unnoticed in typical review processes. Nexor Sentinel is the latest in a growing number of government and commercial products to use ITT’s PuriFile application for deep content inspection of files before transfer.
“We are pleased that Nexor has selected PuriFile for their document inspection tool of choice” said Scott Patrick, Director of the Information Protection and Sharing department at ITT. “PuriFile has been selected by major CDS providers in the U.S. and now this selection by Nexor, for the European market, further substantiates PuriFile as a global leader for document inspection and hidden data detection.”
ITT’s PuriFile inspection tool exists as a stand-alone product, but the availability of an Application Programming Interface (API) allows it to be easily incorporated into a wide variety of transfer and inspection systems. PuriFile also provides additional tools and mechanisms for easy integration into existing active directory systems for user identification.
