NEW GENERATION OF NEXOR SENTINEL EXTENDS GUARD FAMILY
February 2009
Nexor, the company that connects, transforms and protects sensitive information for defence, security and resilience programmes, announces two new additions to its family of high assurance guards.
Nexor Sentinel is the mailguard of choice for operational use by the NATO Maintenance and Supply Agency (NAMSA). Sentinel protects an organisation by ensuring that any outbound data conforms to the data sharing policy and any inbound data has been suitably checked to prevent entry of inappropriate content that could lead to a downstream denial of service.
Nexor Sentinel 2 is the latest version of the STOP1-based Sentinel. Available immediately, Sentinel 2 runs on STOP 6.4, which is evaluated to EAL5 by both the NSA2 and CESG3. Sentinel 2 offers optimised performance and a range of new functionality including SNMP monitoring, remote management using SSH, support for S/MIME, multiple simultaneous content types, structured security labels and the ability to use third party content filters.
In parallel, Nexor has developed its first SELinux based guard, Sentinel 3, available in March 2009. Sentinel 3 is an appliance that runs on HP Proliant Servers and mirrors the functionality of Sentinel 2. In building Sentinel 3, Nexor has drawn on the expertise of leading SELinux authority and host of the SELinux open source repository, Tresys Technology, to ensure the robustness of the security policies. SELinux was founded as a development project by NSA.
“The concept of extending the Nexor guard family with different operating systems provides our customers with the choice of an EAL5 or an EAL4 evaluated platform, with a proven application that is already widely deployed and represents significant value for money over competitive offerings” comments Steve Kingan, CEO.
