Nexor is delighted to announce that we are now an IASME Consortium licensed Certification Body for the Cyber Essentials Scheme, a basic but comprehensive cyber security accreditation created following Government concern that organisations were failing to adequately protect themselves against even low level, unsophisticated cyber attacks.
Through industry engagement and research, which Nexor contributed to significantly, the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) determined that a large majority of breaches occurred due to a weakness in at least one of five key control areas within an organisation. Ensuring robust security controls exist across these five areas formed the basis of the Cyber Essentials Scheme when it was introduced in June 2014.
As a long-time supporter of the NCSC and an early proponent of the Cyber Essentials Scheme, Nexor were one of the first 10 organisations to gain Cyber Essentials certification in 2014 and followed this up by achieving Cyber Essentials Plus shortly afterwards. We are now able to further support the NCSC in their mission ‘to make the UK the safest place to live and work online’ by helping our customers to demonstrate their commitment to building business resilience and encouraging a security first culture through a nationally recognised certification.
The UK Government continues to recognise the challenge of current cyber threats and has the ambition to tackle it head on through their National Cyber Security Strategy, in which Cyber Essentials remains a key component. In fact, it is increasingly becoming a requirement for organisations in the Defence Supply Chain to be compliant with the Cyber Essentials controls to bid for government contracts, especially those that involve handling sensitive and personal information, or the provision of certain technical products and services. As a longstanding member ourselves, Nexor are uniquely placed to help others achieve Cyber Essentials certification whilst sharing our knowledge of how to alleviate security concerns particular to the MoD.
