Role Purpose

To collaborate closely with your teammates, assisting them in the development of projects of varied scope and complexity for both internal and external clients.

To undertake research in line with business requirements and generate reports on the findings as applicable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and code software.

  • Diversify knowledge and skills whilst deepening understanding of existing skills through personal development activities and ongoing application.

  • Author documentation and training materials, conforming to relevant company standards and procedures, and review material generated by others.

  • Provide assistance in the planning of project activities.

  • Take a leading role in Sprint ceremonies including planning, refinement and retrospective.

  • Undertake research activities to assist in advancing department ways of working.

  • Support other parts of Nexor, such as Sales and Marketing, by providing technical information.

  • Develop communication skills and styles, both written and verbal, and exercise these skills within the business.

  • Using obtained skills, undertake the writing and execution of tasks within the DevOps environment including the use of Nexor selected tools.

  • Provide third-line support to fix customer issues by performing investigation and analysis.

  • Act as a focal point for guidance and mentorship within the assigned team, working to meet the defined goals.

  • Take the role of compiling and authoring design documentation.

  • Expand skills and awareness of the broader business space, develop an awareness of factors affecting profitability and contribute to the control of the issues and challenges facing the business.

  • Provide assistance in the development of estimation for proposed works.

  • Interpret, understand and translate the needs of internal and external customers, translating those holistic and technical needs into technical requirements.

  • Gain exposure to multiple Nexor projects or revenue streams by moving between teams and tasks.


Additional Responsibilities

  • Conform, at all times, to relevant company policies, procedures and national legislation as advised is required for the scope of your work.

  • Undertake ad-hoc projects as required.

  • Undertake additional duties as the business requires.

  • Actively contribute to business improvement.


Security and Working Requirements

  • May be required to work additional hours to meet deadlines.

  • May be required to travel to customer sites.

  • Will be required to obtain security cleared status.

Qualifications

Degree or comparable qualification in Software Engineering or related discipline. Ideally already holding or eligible and willing to achieve SC clearance if needed. Willingness and eligibility to obtain and maintain SC are mandatory.

Degree or suitable equivalent with experience. Any additional certifications backing up skills. Heavy preference to those already cleared.

3–5 years plus as a Software Engineer.

R&D project exposure beneficial. 5 years desirable.
