Privilege Management Infrastructure

Increasingly, organisations are making corporate resources available to more users. The potential benefits of doing so include lower costs, higher productivity, greater security and better customer service.

To share resources securely, processes are needed to manage user profiles and policies are needed to determine who has access to what and what they can do with it. Services are then needed to manage the processes and enforce the policies.

All this can be achieved by implementing an enterprise-wide Privilege Management Infrastructure (PMI). This has two key elements:

  • Identity management to prove that users are who they say they are
  • Privilege management to control what those users can do.
