Nexor Sentinel 3 High Assurance Mailguard to Obtain Common Criteria EAL4+

In response to demand from its European customers and the NATO community, Nexor announces that the Nexor Sentinel 3 high assurance mailguard is undergoing Common Criteria evaluation to EAL4+ with Brightsight in The Netherlands.

Developed at Nexor’s Nottingham based CyberShield Secure™ development facility, Sentinel 3 is Nexor’s next generation mailguard.  Already procured by the UK Government and the Canadian Crown, Sentinel 3 offers a broad range of security features for both inbound and outbound electronic messages which are administered by a comprehensive graphical management interface.  The product has been implemented on SELinux, the market leading open source platform which is also evaluated to EAL 4+.

Compared to the previous generation of secure guard platforms, SELinux offers several advantages including an assured continuity of supply and an ongoing development programme for the platform.  Nexor has established itself as one of the premier SELinux development capabilities in Europe.

CyberShield Secure™ encompasses a highly mature secure software engineering methodology.  Developed over 20 years and consistently augmented with contemporary best practice from the leading authorities in government and industry, it forms an integral part of the Nexor Sentinel 3 assurance paradigm.

The evaluation will target the key functionality required by Nexor’s customers and the Nexor support and maintenance process to enable the product to continue to address the evolving threat profile.  The evaluation is scheduled to conclude during 2012.

Nexor is actively participating in the development of criteria for the new Commercial Product Assurance (CPA) scheme that is replacing Common Criteria in the UK.  Nexor Sentinel and CyberShield Secure™ will be entered into the new scheme at the earliest opportunity.
