Secure Platforms
Secure and high assurance environments require the highest standards of robustness and resilience. On top of this, there is a balance to be achieved relating to performance, speed, functionality and accreditation. Nexor has focused on building expertise in a range of platforms and operating systems to cater for many circumstances.
- STOP 6: Nexor has worked with the EAL5+ evaluated platform from BAE Systems for over four years and has built a leading UK capability in applications running on BAE’s proprietary STOP 6 operating system, which runs on XTS 410 hardware
- Security Enhanced (SE) Linux: SELinux offers an EAL4+ operating system as an alternative to STOP 6. SELinux was originally developed by the US NSA and provides additional controls at the operating system level to enforce process and information separation and control. These constraints provide a quantifiable mechanism to ensure only permitted actions and data flow can take place, which greatly increases the security that can be built into solutions.
- Solaris: renowned for its scalability and symmetrical multi-processor capability, Solaris has been a primary development platform for Nexor since 1990. Solutions are currently deployed on the base operating systems, the secure variants of Trusted Solaris and more recently Solaris 10.
- Windows: a Microsoft Certified Partner, Nexor has worked with Windows as a core platform for over ten years with server solutions deployed on variants from Windows 2000 to 2008.
- CELL processor: Nexor has recently added IBM’s CELL processor to its portfolio to provide high performance processing. Used with SELinux, this provides a powerful combination.
